Keeping Your Home Pest-free

Prior to move in, we treat all the properties with a general pest treatment, ensuring there are no more signs of active pests leading up to the official move in date. To continue to remain pest-free, we recommend following good practices to ensure the pests don’t try and take residence in your home. Here are just a few you can follow:

Regular cleaning

  • Keep your home clean and free of food debris. Crumbs and spills can attract pests.
  • Sweep and vacuum regularly, including under furniture and appliances.
  • Clean kitchen appliances and countertops after use.
  • Empty trash bins regularly and use sealed containers.

Proper food storage

  • Store food in airtight containers to prevent pests from accessing it.
  • Keep pet food in sealed containers and clean up any spills promptly.
  • Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight.

Manage outdoor areas

  • Trim bushes and trees away from your home to prevent pests from using them as bridges.
  • Keep the yard clean and remove any debris that might harbor pests.
  • Ensure that garbage and compost bins are securely covered.
  • Keep lawn mowed – minimizing areas where fleas can thrive.

Maintain proper moisture control

  • Address any plumbing leaks promptly to prevent moisture-loving pests like termites and cockroaches.
  • Use a dehumidifier or fan in damp areas of your home.

Regularly inspect and clean storage areas

  • Check and clean your attic, basement, and storage areas for signs of pests.
  • Keep storage areas well-organized and clutter-free.

Maintain a well-kept garden

  • Keep the garden free of overgrown vegetation and decaying plants.
  • Remove fallen leaves and debris from your yard regularly.

Educate yourself about local pests

  • Learn about the common pests in your area and their habits to better prevent and address infestations.

Practice responsible pet care

  • Clean up after your pets in the yard to avoid attracting pests.
  • Regularly groom and inspect your pets for fleas and ticks.
  • Regular pet care and wash pet bedding.
  • Bring food/water bowls inside – try and avoid leaving items out for an extended period of time.

By following these good practices, you can significantly reduce the risk of pest infestations in your home and maintain a clean, pest-free environment.
